THE CITY FOR KIDS

by Michlenagelo Misiti

The City for kids aims to help incorporate the youth in the Leyton community by providing them with a space in which they are prioritized in the design and allowing them to express themselves freely. The whole area has been designed to be eco-friendly, the entire space is green while the residential buildings are made out of CLT and connected by wooden bridges. The design develops within an aviary for parrots that aims to rescue them due to their neglection in the UK animal protection laws. The aviary is attached to the Leisure Centre, an existing building that has been refurbished to contain an internal aviary and two swimming pools. Adjacent to the aviary there is the Town Hall in which youth can study architecture and urban planning to improve Leyton's condition and integrate children users within the district.
