WALTHAM BIRD SANCTUARY

by Marwan Almeligy

The Waltham Bird Sanctuary aspires to protect and conserve the birds of Waltham Forest by creating a sacred garden dedicated solely to nature. The 'nature-centred’ design approach in this project is derived from the need to integrate the local habitat with residential developments. The series of co-living and co-housing towers surrounding the garden unite users of different backgrounds and ages, this allows different generations to support each other through daily rituals & different cultures to grow alongside each other. By accommodating nature into their daily lives, they individually take up the responsibility to sustain the local habitat and therefore contribute to the wider community.
