EXPLORING THE POTENTIAL OF UNDERUTILIZED SPACES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF PUBLIC LIFE, AND TO CREATE AN ECOLOGICAL LINK.

This project aims to restore the ecology of the East India Dock Basin so that it is more resilient and adaptable to the local environment, as it has the potential to improve air quality, slow biodiversity loss, improve urban environments, and possibly improve human livelihoods and human relationships with nature. Creating greenery, large green barriers to reduce noise pollution, closed wetland areas to improve the ecology and protect from flooding by restoring rainfall, as well as food and engaging areas, will draw people into the area and encourage them to use the site. Because of the decline of the creative community in Trinity Buoy Wharf, I wanted to use the underutilized spaces to create spaces for the community to benefit from, to attract back the creative community; creating flexible spaces with green areas. This proposal will be effective in the post-pandemic future as it helps to combat climate change by reducing noise pollution, restoring the environment, and, most importantly, bringing people together, all of which will contribute to the development of a climate resilient future.
