THE MICRO-PLASTIC PARLIAMENT / CLEAN AIR PARK

by Katherine Dechow

The Micro-Plastic Parliament explores the political and aesthetic properties of micro-plastics by visulising the continuously shifting territories of air pollution and making visible the invisible consequences of urban life. SSE and within 95km of Bergen the site is located downwind within the microplastic geographical limits of the city. The master plan of the site is defined by shifting wind patterns with high and low velocity areas helping to define programmatic function. In the low velocity spaces area based on the process flow of a parliamentary building and citizens assembly. The envelope of this space aims to actively accelerate the collection of MP through electrostatic charge, building up over time to conceal the building yet draw increased attention to the issue being discussed within.
In the high velocity spaces, the surrounding landscape will engage the public and encourage participation in pushing political leaders to create policies for cleaner air.
