ESTABLISHING AN ECOLOGICAL CORRIDOR

This exploration is centred around creating a green corridor, ecologically connecting the Lea Valley with the River Thames. The site of the former Leven Road Gas Works in Poplar, Tower Hamlets is key to this proposal as it provides a vast opportunity area of post-industrial land for sustainable development. The former Gas Works are part of a network of spaces identified as ecological opportunity areas and sustainable development can set a precedent for other industrial sites in the Lower Lea Valley, combining public open space, parkland, ecology reserves and new houses to meet London’s needs.
