Jennifer O’Riordan is a project architect for Kennedy Woods, a Peckham based practice specialising in sustainable and educational developments across both London and the UK. Jennifer previously taught technical studies and design studio modules on the undergraduate courses at the University of East London and the University of Limerick, Ireland.

Re-Purposing Temporary Architecture - Temporary architecture seems to be appearing and disappearing more and more readily these days. Its use as a means of generating hype and attracting attention is all too familiar. With its often wild and irresponsible use of materials, it seems as disposable as a coffee cup. Perhaps as designers we need to think about this and begin to give structures like these a life beyond the temporary? With that in mind group B started the semester researching architects who design chairs. We then went on to design a travelling exhibition stand to exhibit the original chair, finally, the stand was to be placed on a site in Deptford. The brief for this part of the project was to re-use/re-purpose the stand by responding to the context (in all its meanings) of Deptford.
