THE 21ST CENTURY MANSIO FOR FILM-MAKERS

Mansio, Filming Studio and Archaeology Museum in the heart of the Borough of Southwark. From the current excavation at Southwark Street have revealed a sequence of Roman buildings including some high-status structures connected with civic or military functions. In the Roman Empire, a Mansio was an official stopping place on a Roman road, maintained by the central government for the use of officials and those on official business whilst traveling. But today's Mansio will be the 21st century ‘stay in’ which will let filmmakers explore and produce new work with the inspiration of the foundation of the Roman remains that will be exhibited on site. Influenced by the Choreography models produced in the first semester of a film analysis of Les Misérables by Lady Ly. Abstracted drawings of an abstracted plan of flattened moments and spaces of the film fragment allowed me to showcase the architectural elements of light, planes, views, spaces and materiality that I was able to develop further into second semester’s brief.
