BOATEL: A TRIBUTE TO TURNER

by Milan Lad

An artist’s retreat which draws attention to the beautiful peripheral landscapes of Gravesend. As part of a wider scheme of interventions spanning all the way to Margate, this project follows the path of Turner along the Thames, highlighting the magnificent landscapes which are under threat to commercial and residential architecture. The overall concept is to create a unique experience in which guests arrive via boat, and during their stay are inspired to capture the hidden landscapes through a plethora of art forms as part of a tribute to JMW Turner. Through the activities and architecture, the guests not only become aware of the stunning landscapes but are encouraged to explore them further.
