The project explores radical reuse in the Camden backlands with a special interest in the use of vehicles and how they might be recycled to generate a richer public realm. The final project focused on the backland area of northern Camley Street, where a string of rundown car fixing and breaking yards are placed, and currently scheduled for demolition. The project takes the idea of stripping down cars to the various component parts, and proposes how they might be reused in the architectural structure of a new car recycling school, including eg. car bonnet louvered facades, a car chassis spiral staircase and a new café structure, wrapped in recucled car seat leather and with windscreen-tiles glazing, overlooking the building from the new Camden Highline. The aim is to make an alternative proposal to high density redevelopment which improvs public access to this diverse area of Camden while building from, rather than demolishing, its lively qualities
