OYSTER 'CATCHER'

by Joanna B.K. Leung

The Oysterville is an experimental project, it is a testing ground for the reverse in social status. In Oysterville, Birds > Human. To reflect on how animals can be treated in better condition even though the industry is kind of 'exploitative', workers can still work and live without feeling stress. The project began with an imaginary client – Oystercatcher Bird Couple. Originally the couple were typical Oystercatcher birds that later evolved into human forms. Detested being banished by humans years after years which lead to their downfall, the Oystercatcher couple set up their oyster farm business and employ humans to work for them. “Oyster’CATCHER’” is the name of the oysterville (oyster farm + village) that the couple set up along the jetty of former Coryton Oil Refinery.
