Urban farming and boat marketing proposal will be located in East London, in our site Haggerston/London Fields. I decided to encourage people to sell local products from the urban farming on boats that will be built using recyclable materials and attached to the canal on the side so people can access it and buy the produce. Moreover, I’m going to set areas where urban farming will be executed to be used for the boats. The goal behind the proposal is encourage the unemployed people to work, benefit more from the underused canal, expanding the market, encouraging selling products from urban farming, and last but not least increase people’s wellbeing and health. The marketing boat is going to be built out of wooden pallets and floating on plastic bottles, which also encourages recycling. In addition, there will be foldable metal cages placed on the boat to place the produce. A tug boat will be the boat in the very front pulling the marketing boats around the site due to it being the only one with a built-in engine. Solar panels will be installed on top to provide the tug boat with renewable energy to function. The farming area will be located in front of the U houses by the canal so the produce can be easily taken to the boats when the market is opened. Some greenery will be kept as private green for the residents of the council flats. This project has taught me how to analyze a site from both the positive and negative aspects and changing the negatives into useful projects that’ll benefit the society and I felt like the boat marketing and urban farming is an essential collaborative project that’ll definitely ameliorate the community in Haggerston/London Fields.
