SOCIAL ESCALIER

Social Escalier is a hybrid programme for student living, located in our very own campus at Harrow. The proposal provides forty rooms of student accommodation as well as community spaces, with the concept of encouraging social interactions and creating a flexible environment through spatial interventions. It is designed with the intention of framing views of Hue Gardens ( semester one Botanic Garden project). Social Escalier is a complex of smaller buildings, expressing its own social dynamics. The main volume of the building is the staircase. The staircase isn’t only used to connect different floors, it is a volume itself and the main circulation space. It becomes a space for students to socialise and meet one another.
