HANSARD MEWS AND THE INNER TREASURE

by Sara Vannella

Situated in Kensington and Chelsea, Hansard mews is a collection of 15 historical and ever-changing buildings. Hansard Mews with its changing nature is a great example of interior reuse and repurpose while preserving the building’s beauty and charm. The brief asks designers to reflect on how to approach the ever-growing waste industry and how we can use waste to create a new world of art. The interior of the building 4, will be transformed to welcome the needs of my maker and their customers. After studying and analysing the waste industry as well as the alarming poverty rates among children in London, I decided to choose an object that we all take for granted. Empty toothpaste tubes greatly contribute to ruining our air, lands and water every year. The Hidden Treasure aims to positively impact on cleaning our planet as well as teaching the local community how a small object and a small step can make a real difference on both community and planet.
