YONDER II

by Lloyd Butcher

Relocating the popular multi-use bouldering, work and workshop space located in Blackhorse Road London, YONDER II is an expansion of the space to be located in a now disused plot of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. Referencing the East Ends infamous textile industry and hedonistic warehouse scene,YOUNDER II offers users a larger, more sustainable space to climb, work and create. YONDER II is comprised of CLT floor and wall panels, supported by a glulam exoskeleton. ETFE covers the open air climbing space and weathering steel standing seam cladding is used to replicate the look of the warehouses. Finally steel net trellises are draped over the structure, supported by ground connections and old cranes, acting as an ode to the areas textile industry and reflect its current prosperity.
