The aim of the proposal is to activate the whole lake and its surrounding areas by providing space for more culture, art, work and education and provide public open space and fun activities for the public, focusing on not only helping the public but also features for the wildlife and to improve the environment. The main elements identified and taken into account are lack of use for the green and open space, poor quality views, poor pedestrian connections, low concentration of educational and cultural facilities but despite this a particular low attention to the water quality of the lake. The development scheme proposes the creation of green areas to improve the public realm and tackle pollution related problems, the replacement of the new facilities is expected to integrate pathways for pedestrians, improving permeability on site and to provide cultural and educational space. In particular, adding a lot more activity around the lake and providing more seats for people to meet, work or study. The existing structure of the ares will not change, the proposal involves the idea of infill development so making use of what is already in the site but improving it to make the site better.
