PARK MUSEUM

by Hicham Abari

The park museum was designed to unravel the history of Altab Ali park while recognizing minorities history through exhibitions and the architecture in itself. By exposing hate crime and racism that took place in the area we insure that history doesn't repeat itself. The museum also encourages coexistence and recognizes achievements made by minorities. Each space in the building frames a certain part of the park which holds great significance on the area's history. Using space and light, each room evokes different feeling’s allowing visitors to connect with the building. When one enters the framed view of Altab Ali’s murder scene the lighting is dark and the space gets more and more narrow expressing oppression however once you transition towards the framed view of Altab Ali gate which represents coexistence the space gets wider and wider with light persecuting perforations of diverse national symbolic patterns merged together.
