BETHNAL'S GREEN BREWERY

by Karol Maranski

The concept proposed in this project is a brewery focused on gathering the community of Bethnal Green around discovering the art of beer brewing by observation and communal workshops, as well as supplying local shops with products made with recycled brewing by-products. The design of the project, based on the overlapping building blocks, enables the building to be used in different ways simultaneously. The brewing vessels are situated on the floor -1 and can be observed from other floors and the street. The ground floor is dedicated to reusing the by-products of the brewing process - the pulp is dried out and minced to get flour and animal forage, sent out to local stores. The first floor is dedicated to social activities which give the members of Bethnal Green community a chance to learn brewing techniques as well as to meet with friends and talk over a pint.
