URBAN BOTHY AND CHILDREN IN THE CITY

by Halima Haq

The aim of my ‘Urban Bothy’ project was to provide a retreat and social gathering spot for a particular group of people. My ‘tribe’ was guerrilla gardeners, so I created a spot for these people to grow plants, vegetables and seed bombs. The bothy involves solar shading and controlled lighting via louvres for different plant growth and needs.

For my final project ‘Children in The City’, I created various study models testing ways in which my building could encourage children to learn and engage with their surroundings using their senses. I envisioned these models to form patterns and openings, playful to the eyes, conveying a unique aesthetic value and promoting natural ventilation and light flow in the nursery.
