GLOBE TOWN SODAWORKS

by Sami Kassim

A monolithic, minimalist presence on the Globe Road junction, the building is a live-work environment with varying levels of activity throughout. Fermentation is an emerging technique used by craft soda firms to carbonate drinks; this can only be effective with an absence of direct sunlight and a warm environment. Fixed louvres are present to restrict direct sunlight into these areas, with enough light circulating around the building via the indoor galleries to create a habitable atmosphere in the workshop space and bar. The journey around the building displays the contrast between light and dark, and public and private, to which the process of soda crafting is revealed.
