SOUTH DOCK COMMUNITY CENTRE

by Georgia Gollop

A landmark on the water situated to connect the existing and new community together through the use of cooking and arts, activities that integrate cultural backgrounds through ways other than language. The docks provide a rich history of importing and exporting goods for example the fruit and vegetable trade with the Canary Islands, Canary Wharf name originating from this. Fruit and vegetable boats float on the water promoting this unused space for leisure activities for the community to grow and collect ingredients used for cooking classes. Surrounded by water, a monumental waterfall flows into the docks below improving the water quality for this once disused area can be used again and to revive the south dock.
