WEAK' THEATRE

by Lou Kelemen

A performance school is usually composed out of a set of enclosed and controlled stages, to do with the way in which a performer, whether playing music, dancing or acting, enacts their presence. The 'Weak' stage acts as a mediator between the controlled and the improvised, where the building acts as a shell for a series of stages that are flexible to the use of the performer. Being of a fragmented nature the stage is made up by a series of components that transgress the modern through applications of paint, platforms and objects, in the trace of a previous act. The performance school sits in a wider masterplan, which was designed as a collaboration between four, this bridge cuts and retains the site and it’s existing market, creating pockets of soft and hard landscape. The bridge acts as a stage between the different parts of the Barking Technical College.
