SEM 1: HOPS AND TEA SEM 2: GROWING GREEN

by Aisha Mughal

My projects are about Social Prescribing a program where health professionals refer patients to support in the community, to improve their health and wellbeing.
Sem 1 : My Project develops from the idea of being a location the local community of Newham can be socially prescribed to. The community in Newham used to socialise through hop-harvesting during holidays. My chosen location on the site has ideal conditions for growing hops and, as they require maintenance throughout the year they provide an opportunity for healthy social activity. The harvested hops are made into tea, which can be enjoyed in the tea-room that sits above the hops looking out at the river.
Sem 2 : Continuing from my first semester project I have expanded the plants being grown and the social prescribing activities available on the site. These activities involve: Growing hops to make tea, Growing Herbs to make essential oil and, growing an allotment to learn cooking and develop regular food related events through out the year.
