FYRIR FóLKIð: THE NEW MIðBORG PAPER FACTORY

by Aderinsola Fadina

In recognition of the need to diversify the nation’s economy, and the Icelanders’ adeptness for writing, publishing and artistic expression, the architectural project proposes a series of live/work spaces centred around the manufacture of paper. The production of paper from wood and recycled pulp forms the economic component of the project as the production of paper based products aims to generate revenue for the economy of Reykjavik. Also forming a part of this proposal are provisions for key worker housing, as well as spaces dedicated to recreation and creative paper-based post-production.
