SEM 1: THE CREATIVE SURVIVAL CAMP. SEM 2: BOATING COMMUNITY EXCHANGE

by Josh Mooney

Sem 1: The Adventure camp fills a creative gap in a child’s education by allowing them to explore industrial materials and applying them to real world situations. Constructed from a system of scaffold and timber, the project is highly practical for its short 10-year lifespan. After which, all materials can be re-used in the construction industry. Walking through the building the outside world leaks through a semi-transparent polycarbonate facade, large rotating doors open to expose great views of the Thames and the kids engaging in activities on the foreshore. Sem 2: The boating exchange provides an important connection for the community by solving domestic issues that many people face living on boats. This includes small scale activities such as laundry or simply the luxury of a bath, but also the bigger scale, this being political debates, lectures, and market days. This project is a great asset to the growing community of house boaters not only in London but around the country.
