ART OF LIVING

by Zuzanna Osiecka

The proposal responds to the problems of lack of local artist- designated work space as well as providing a friendly dorm environment for students, particularly of of New Cross's creative Goldsmiths University. Project consists of units in which the aforementioned groups share living, learning and working areas. The building houses art shops and meeting spaces, as well as communal kitchen and laundrette for residents to use. Separate on-site gallery displays work of the makers to public. The accessible rooftops offer varying views and different levels of privacy. There are two public spaces, each located on the opposing side of the complex, one centered around a large existing eucaliptus tree, the other around a man-made pond.
