PECKHAM DEVICE AND FOOD BANK AND ART CENTRE BUILDING PROJECT

by Velina Drakalieva

As a response to issues mapped in Peckham, the device project tackles problems caused by the pandemic – a reusable face mask and hand sanitiser dispenser for shops. The building project responds to the post-pandemic social and health issues related to prolonged isolation and respiratory illness. The proposed community centre tries to bring together local disadvantaged communities and artists. The end users are from the local community who collect charity produce from Rye Lane with artists volunteering to collect the produce in the centre and provide free art and craft classes. The building portrays the new heart of the community.

The video follows the process of mapping an area of Peckham, identifying issues, device creation and designing a community building.
