INTERGENERATIONAL KNITTERS

My project is about a social space that integrates the community of Peckham through the activity of knitting. The original purpose of this site is for the youth to develop a skill that they can later give back to the rest of Peckham through personalised projects. This project gives the youths a space where they can work alongside other youths and have some space for themselves as Peckham itself doesn’t have a youth center. My design includes a private workshop for the youths and a cafe that is accessible to the rest of the community, connected by a corridor that is used to exhibit their work.
