SURREY CANAL ARTS & SOCIAL CENTRE

by Ben Studd

A close study of the area in a previous mapping project and a further architectural intervention project found community engagement was lacking in the younger age population. This project is in response to those and aims to create a community hub where children can attend creative art classes and teaching, and socialise with each other. Close proximity with the existing public infrastructures like the Peckham Library, and Mountview school will provide opportunities to engage in collaborative art and social projects. Importantly the building will act as an open public space which does not detract from the existing natural green space on the site.
