Peckham is a diverse place, but the largest ethnic group in the area are of those of West-African decent. This is reflected in local businesses, many of which are dedicated entirely to traditional printed cloth and clothing; upon further investigation however, it can be found that almost none of these textiles are produces locally. This is where my proposal comes in. It allows for the young to learn from their elders, about the significance of certain colours and patterns, as well as bringing the community together in the designing, dyeing, printing, and production of the textiles, which can be bought by local shops, purchased by locals, and directly, positively impact the local economy.
