BIO-LABORATORY: HIGH-STREET INCUBATOR FOR SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIVE MANUFACTURE

The concept behind my DES1B project is the exploration of the structural and ornamental potential of Paperwood in construction achieved through layering. My proposal is a Bio-laboratory specialising in the repurposing of local paper waste into affordable building materials that can replace concrete and traditional wood located in Peckham. The design of the facility reflects the numerous ways in which the material can be used within a space from cladding and flooring to furniture and lighting fixtures. Through exploring different design concepts, the final product is a semi-public building that stands out from the usual building language of its surroundings.
