This year, the site was based at Lambeth, London; the aim was to create an innovative learning space for children. This was interwoven with the idea of a 15-minute sustainable city that considers the needs and wants of children and communities within a 15-minute boundary. Urban Cave Dwellers, a community space for learning, was inspired the experience of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. It explores the sensation of an unfolding underground journey, with light filtering down into carved nooks, gardens and spaces for learning and play. The Day-Night School houses teaching activities in multiple circular forms within an open plan landscape, encouraging independence and freedom to explore. Informed by the work of Jane Jacobs, a community theatre connects the school with the neighbourhood and a new public space.
