A JOURNEY THROUGH PLAY AND GROUNDS

by Makbule Karadag

The project proposes a new civic architecture and landscape based around play, pleasure and performance. It specifically proposes new community theatre space and a school of performance for the local community. There is also a 21st century park within the landscape of the site to encourage people of all ages to play in different ways. The proposal encourages community cohesion and empowerment through education, training, performance-based arts, and recreational activities. The site is a hub for performance, play and empowerment and provides a much-needed antidote to the fast paced and monotonous digital age that we currently live in, in which we often lack meaningful interactions, stimulating experiences and adequate access to nature. The project’s intention is to divert the user away from the digital, engage in a world connected to nature, play, performance, sociability, and pleasure.
