A HOUSE FOR WILLIAM KENTRIDGE

by Fani Petrova

William Kentridge is a South African artist best known for his drawings and animated films. In this proposed house he would be able to live with his wife and three children, work and then display the outcomes. It consists of a studio, a gallery, a small auditorium, and a living space. Everything is centered around the living room and kitchen, where he spends most of his time. To match the exterior cladding of the house with his artworks I decided to explore two types of limestone panels – rough-cut and honed, reflecting the shadows throughout the day.
