CONTEMPORARY DANCE THEATRE

The project is designed as a contemporary dance space, taking inspiration from Pina Bausch’s performances, and for a youth centre in Peckham. The three performance spaces, each represents an important landmark in Peckham, and the old library building has been re-adapted as a youth centre. Complex timber trusses, notching timber joints, and bio-plastic roofing panels set up an informal and temporal structure which has the capacity to grow to accommodate the varying groups of audience. The red-tint of the bioplastics panels and timber trusses add to the intensity and drama of the performances.
