COPELAND CONTEMPORARY ART CENTER (CCAC)

This Project was designed as an intimate playhouse for performance artists and contemporary dancers. The design set within a long and narrow site features double-height spaces, a sunken stage, skylights, and large windows to create various light and shadows. This center has qualities such as; a performance stage, staggered seating, and rental gallery space with a separate entrance for pedestrians. The buildings outer structure is supported by timber glue laminated columns along the outer façade. Bi-fold doors decorated with timber panelling offer a symbiotic relationship between the inside performance experience and fast paced Peckham community.
