Peckham Harvest Mind + Soul’s Community Centre is a space that residents of Peckham and visitors can visit to explore cultivation by improving mental health through urban farming activities. The space promotes active participation in the city of Peckham and engagement through the act of recovery and operation. In the past, Peckham has been associated with the stigma of high crime levels that has lead to much fear and trauma. This space funded by the Damilola Taylor Trust (a Fund created for the demise of the late Damilola Taylor) will be a catalyst for change in the area to support the community by providing direct assess to fresh produce that is grown and handled by users of the space. Other facilities also aim to support the youth and adults in an effort to be a ‘healing centre’ and to combat gentrification of the area.
